Croyde Motors

The Brief

Croyde Motors are a well established, family run car business based in Croyde, North Devon offering a full range of garage services and used car sales. They are also one of the biggest SEAT dealers in the area. North Devon Design have been updating and maintaining their website since 2004. Ten years later in 2014, Director Roy Thackray asked if we could give the site a complete overhaul, with a new look and feel more in keeping with SEAT and lots more functional features for advertising and selling their used vehicles.

The Solution

The original Croyde Motors website was built using a custom built CMS (Content Management System) that had not been updated for some time and had met several limitations. As with most of our sites, we chose to move to WordPress as this has a built in CMS which is user friendly. The flexibility of WordPress enabled us to add new features such as a used car archive with finance calculators and slideshow galleries.

The whole site was given a fresh new look via a new WordPress theme making use a striking, full screen image of a SEAT car on the home page, which can be regularly updated from the CMS dashboard.

For navigation, we added a ‘mega menu’ enabling the visitor to find all the information they need quickly.

The site gets revisited at least once a year to keep it up to date and to add additional functional features that visitors have come to expect from websites. During a recent website refresh we also gave their logo a refresh too. They have been using the same logo for almost 20 years and felt it was time for a new look. As an established business with an instantly recognisable logo, we didn’t want to move too far away from the original, so kept the same colours and some of the graphic elements, but used contemporary typefaces and a more simplified approach, resulting in a fresher, more modern looking logo.
